I have visited Rome many times and every trip trip is a captivating dive into history, culture, and culinary delights. The Eternal City welcomes visitors with its timeless charm and bustling streets filled with stories of the past. This time I began my adventure at the iconic Colosseum that I leaves me in awe everytime I see it; the echoes of gladiatorial combat seem to linger. I had to see the Roman Forum once again as a stroll through it really taks you back in time: I imagined the political dramas that unfolded there centuries ago. After taking in all this history, my first day ended with a sunset view from Palatine Hill, offering a breathtaking panorama of ancient ruins. I then went to have a cocktail to the rooftop bar and restaurant Zuma in the iconic Fendi Building just steps from Via dei Condotti and the Spanish steps.
I dedicated the second day to The Vatican Museums whcih was a feast for the senses. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling is an incredible and unique work of art worth the wait and the crowds. I continued with a nice stroll across the Tiber that led me to Castel Sant’Angelo, its storied past etched into its walls. I decided to have Lunch in the Trastevere neighborhood with its the cobbled streets, charming piazzas and artisan shops. Lunch at a cozy trattoria introduced me to authentic Roman pasta: cacio e pepe and carbonara. In the evening, I wanted to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain that because of all the restructure currently going on in Rome for the 2025 jubilee, ended up to be a toss into a small anonymous pool between the barricades protecting the waterless fountain which is still a majestic artwork.
My new discovery took me to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon were mesmerizing, each with its unique blend of history and artistry. Sipping espresso at a sidewalk café felt like a quintessential Roman experience. Before leaving, I climbed the Spanish Steps (once more), savoring one last view of the city. Rome’s magical blend of history, art, and cuisine left once again a mark on my heart. Until we meet again.
Arrivederci, Roma!
